 Lia Scott Price, horror/sci-fi novelist and the creator of Serial Killer & Vampire Guardian Angels TM, is known for her series of novels “The Guardian”, “Revenant” and “Dominion X”. In the first of her series, guardian angels are serial killers who target the people who pray for an end to their sufferings and who whine about their pain. In her second and third novels in the series, a vampire invades heaven and turns all the guardian angels into vampires. And just like the transformation of her guardians, Price has transformed herself from author into independent film producer, turning her novels into films through her production company Lia Scott Price Productions Inc. Her films include “Dominion”, based on her novel “Dominion X” (cafépress.com) and “The Guardian”, based on her novel “The Guardian” (iuniverse.com). Readers of Price's series on Serial Killer and Vampire Guardian Angels TM are introduced to a creepier and deadlier image of guardian angels. Price believes that they aren’t all good. “You never really know who it is you are praying to. In fact, no one knows who or what they really are.” says Price. Though her idea of guardian angels may be considered disturbing, Price's fan base is one that has been steadily growing. Fans comment that "The idea of guardian angels that have gone bad is awesome!" and that they are "tired of the same stagnant vampire theme." So Price's Serial Killer and Vampire Guardian Angels TM are a unique twist to horror fans looking for something fresh and new. So why did Price become an indie film producer instead of looking for a production company to turn her books into films? "Sometimes the only way one's book can become a film is to self-produce it.", says Price, who has always had a do-it-yourself mentality. She took on the challenge of self-publishing her novels, and the even bigger challenge of turning them into films because "I wanted to bring my characters to life. Film was the perfect way to do it." says Price, who has also garnered local buzz. "The film versions of my novels are different storylines. We made changes due to budget and locations, so though it may not be exact, most of the characters and the concepts are basically the same as those in the novels." Price has an "evanescent passion" for her novels and films. "You got to do what you love and make things happen for yourself. It’s a balance of business and creativity.”says Price. “Work with what’s around and available to you, have a positive attitude, and find a way to do what you want to accomplish. I'm happy knowing that I'm doing what I love to do. I create my own opportunities.
