ABOUT THE BLOG

Horror Author Lia Scott Price's Blog featuring her Serial Killer and Vampire Guardian Angels TM.

The blog which is dedicated to her characters describes Price's guardian angel characters from her novels and presents an alternative view to what they could be. "You shouldn't whine to a guardian angel because you don't really know what a guardian angel really is."

She describes how guardian angels could be mercy killers and vampires who, tired of mankind's begging them for help, target people who pray in vain and for an end to their miseries, specifically suicidal intentions.

She also includes a fictional theory about how vampires existed in the Bible and how the Church hid vampires in the form of "angels". "They find their victims through their prayers of desperation.", Price says. "You never know what's coming for you."

The blog also features Price's new book releases, short stories, comic books, and film shorts about her evil guardian angel characters, and free chapters from her novels.

WHO and WHAT

THEY START OUT AS SERIAL KILLERS

Why do people pray to guardian angels? How did this all start?

Originally, angels were sent to destroy man. In the Bible, Angels were killers. They were judge, jury, and executioner. It is possible that they continue to be.

Revelation 8: And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth.

Revelation 9: And the four angels were loosed.... to slay the third part of men.

Psalms: 7:11-13: God has prepared deadly weapons (swords, bows, etc.) and plans to use them.

So that's kind of a contradiction: Angels are supposedly our protectors, yet there are Angels attributed to presiding over the 'end' of humanity.

And of course, who can forget Angel Rebellion? There’s Satan, who refused to follow God’s command to bow down to humanity.

So if one Angel rebels, then perhaps they are indeed out there, rebelling against us.

So many of us believe we are protected by guardian angels. But many of us also don't really know who it is we are praying to, or what they really look like. They are supernatural, paranormal, and supposedly all-powerful.

Popularized by pop culture and consumerism, it is said that a Guardian Angel's purpose is to watch us on a constant basis and to rescue us in the nick of time from a disaster, to look out for our safety, and that each person has a personal Guardian Angel assigned to them to protect them.

People also believe that angels ‘show up’ when we ‘invoke’ or pray to them to help us with our troubles.

Guardian Angels are believed to have been assigned as protectors against evil. Some believers will claim that God assigns and commands angels to care for us. In the Bible, Psa 91:11 quotes "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." But he didn't say HOW they should.

But do they?

We really don't know who or what we're summoning, do we?

Do you really know who you're praying to?

Ever wonder who your guardian angel is?

Ever wonder WHAT your guardian angel is?

Have you ever even seen one?

Do you really think they look like those pop culture images of white-wings and halos and loving cherubs?

Meet my guardian angels.

They aren't very nice.

Ever get so tired of someone coming to you constantly, asking for help, that you have to become some sort of savior/therapist?

That's how my guardian angel characters feel. They are tired of our whining. There are so many people are praying to them, expecting them to rescue them from their troubles. There are people who pray for suicide, who want to end their suffering in life. Oh, they want help with that.

Has anyone ever considered that Guardian Angels could be killing us instead of helping us? Because they are jealous of us, tired of our whining, and tired of having to protect us?"

With too many prayers to answer, and too many annoying people crying out for help, my guardian angels took matters into their own hands.

So they decide to do some mercy killing. They target those people in despair and end their lives for them.

So, here's how it works:

You're praying in vain.

You pray in despair. You cry. You whine. You beg.

A guardian angel answers your prayer...except that he's either a mercy killer or a vampire.

He, or she, can be very seductive. They'll appear in human form, act helpful, sympathetic and charming.

He gives you what you want: and end to your suffering. He convinces you to kill yourself, by cutting your wrists, jumping off a cliff, etc.

If you're about to jump off that cliff, and you hesitate, he'll just give you a little push.

Now he's happy---you're no longer annoying him with your nagging, and he moves on the the next annoying person who's prayed to a guardian angel and get rid of them.

Because he's tired of our whining and our prayers of despair.

My guardian angel characters are not your typical white-winged, white-robed, halo-wearing, benevolent beings. They're something much more sinister and scarier.

They love to target in particular those people who are suicidal. They'll either physically show up and convince you to end your life--in a very charming, convincing and hypnotic way, of course, or subconsciously make you do it through mind control (You really think you pressed the trigger to the gun to your head on your own? Someone had to prod you along to do it.....)

Now do you feel like praying?

THEY BECOME VAMPIRES

But wait--it gets better.

My Serial Killer Guardian Angels became Vampires.

How? You'd have to read my books. Here's the short short version: A guardian angel went back to Heaven and took a vampire with him, and the vampire turned all the angels in Heaven into Vampires.

So when you pray to a Guardian Angel, you may also be summoning a very, very hungry vampire who's attracted to your prayers. It's like a beacon to them. That's how they find their "food". And they make the death look like an accident or a suicide and it's justified because, after all, the victim did pray to them for an end to their suffering. It's also a plus for them because they can feed off the bodies and no one will know the difference, especially if it's a particularly bloody suicide.

They appear as a Vampire, but in human form, but you'll know them by those wings, and simply slash you up with sharp weapons -- because it saves time and biting the neck takes too much work-- and drink up all your blood.

Oh--one thing though. Vampire Guardian Angels aren't like regular vampires. They can't be killed with stakes or holy water. They are immune to sunlight and crucifixes (they came straight from heaven, after all).

So they slash open their victim and drink...and it doesn't have to be on the neck.

I'd hate to be around anyone praying in despair or in their time of need---you'll never know when my characters will show up.

There's a darker side to these supernatural beings. People put their faith in a supposedly higher power they can’t even see, mythical beings, seen only as all good, glorified as holy and loving, but never seen as perhaps just as flawed and vengeful as we are.

WHY and HOW

I created my unique guardian angel characters, because they could be evil after all. Can we not question our beliefs, or do we blindly follow dogma? Can we not think that there are things in this world that ARE possible? I’m just presenting an alternative view. The rest is up to whatever people want to believe in.

These are not fallen angels. They are actual working Guardian Angels, still bound by what they are to answer prayers. They can't help it. They are trapped by it. So they use it to their advantage. They their own rules—how to deal with us and how they choose to answer prayers. They walk among us. They toy with us. And by the number of freak accidents in the world, it’s probably their handiwork.

Guardian Angels may not be as good as people think they are. You put your blind faith in something that may just be as human as you are. Think about it. People want so badly to believe in a higher power that will save them. The problem is, Guardian Angels were created to serve, and if they rebel, well, there’s the problem. People don’t want to see it that way. They always want a savior. So that’s what makes us so weak and vulnerable---and that’s how Guardian Angels can take advantage of us---or feed on us. Chilling thought.

A big influence was fanatical religion, and people who constantly whined and prayed for something to save them, but who seemed to do nothing to help themselves. One can say it inspired dark thoughts about what people prayed to, invoked, or begged for help from.

THE "RECOVERING CATHOLIC" THEME

Yes, I am one. I’m sure you’ve heard of the term. I do believe in a higher power, but I don’t often agree with being forced to conform to a religion through fear.

What inspired me was the darker side of religion, and dark religious history mixed with supernatural folklore in particular. Who are these despairing people praying to? They don't even know, do they? They can't even see what entity may be hearing them.

“My Guardian Angel saved me. My Guardian Angel watched over me.” These are the most popular stories people tell. Those cute little cherubs and kindly-looking figurines and statues in paintings and artwork---that’s all we know about Guardian Angels.

Churches and religious statues, angel statues in particular, have always been haunting and scary images to me as a child. In fact, they were terrifying. Kneeling before one was intimidating. Was it a living being? Why did people pour so much negative energy into an inanimate object?

I believe that even statues of Saints can be possessed with negative energy because of all the desperation and despair they absorb. I've seen pictures of these antique saints and I can sense the energy just by looking at the photos...very negative, feelings of resignation, sadness, helplessness, etc. Some dark and nasty feelings too. I wouldn't want to have a collection of those antiques in my environment, especially alone at night. It's creepy.

And yet many people (and cultures) don't realize it. Just a thought. Evil and negative entities can hide in objects, even if they are seen as "holy". That doesn't repel them. If these objects have been in a negative environment and constantly absorbing negative energies and stories from people, then, well...what do you think will be the type of energy these objects will hold? And these objects will be passed on from generation to generation, ensuring the continuation of the negative energy, and thus a constantly negative people which attract my killer Guardian Angels...scary.

In some fanatically religious Catholic cultures, it's no longer about being spiritual--it's more about robotic, programmed nagging, begging, and total dependence on angels, saints, Jesus and God to save them from their problems, without realizing that it's not the angels' problem---it's theirs. But they would rather be dependent on some supposedly divine and superior entity to "save" or help them.

I’m simply exploring the more fanatical and darker side of beliefs, the things and experiences I grew up with: ingrained guilt, not being allowed or encouraged to question theology, the encouragement of martyrdom, and the wrath of the Angels. When I was a child, churches which contained the bloody imagery of saints and crucifixes were morbid and graphic and bloody and terrifying---Angels with swords that looked vengeful and who were capable of killing people for their sins---it made me question this ever since I was a child---do they have the same psychological frailties and issues as humans do, and are they capable of killing with such weapons? It’s edgy, disturbing, and pushing the boundaries of people’s beliefs. I’m just offering and alternative view.

My Trilogy of stories “The Guardian, Revenant, and Dominion”, were inspired by a sermon I heard in church once. The priest was talking about how all guardian angels were good and were there to help us, guide us, and answer out prayers. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I thought “Oh really? What if they don’t? What if they don’t like our whining?” And that’s where it all started. I went home and created my characters that night.

THE VAMPIRE THEME

Are there Vampires in the Bible?

The Bible made blood-drinking acceptable in the guise of symbolism, when it can actually be documentation. In fact, there's a lot of passages that suggested the craving for blood and human flesh:

The Book of Revelations: God sent his angels to destroy man, and his angels drank blood.. Here's the proof:

2 Kings 19:35: "..And the Angel feasted...185,000 men in the camp...Early the next morning, there they were, all the corpses of the dead.".

Rev 16:4: "...The third Angel...and blood is what you have given them to drink...".

Rev 16:6: "....For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets....and thou has given them blood to drink, for they are worthy..."

Other passages with reference to the drinking of blood and the eating of flesh:

"And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." Leviticus 26:29

"And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters." Deuteronomy 28:53

"And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine." Isaiah 49:26

"And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend." Jeremiah 19:9

So why would blood be so important in the Bible? The drinking of blood and the eating of flesh? Even Jesus says "Eat my flesh and Drink my Blood. Come to me and never be hungry."

Were there Vampire Guardian AngelsTM in the Bible? Keep in mind this is all fiction. But it makes you think: You've got holy bodies rising from the dead, never dying, preserved through eternity, never decaying....Who knows what creatures the Church during the time of the inquisition sacrificed “heretics” to? I believe this was a way for the Church which by the way had such a bloody history to cover up their methods of feeding their supernatural beings who they could call Gods--Vampire Guardian Angels. The Church's victims were held in dungeons, and in darkness. A 15th century Italian garroting chair had a special restraint for the victim's neck. A sharp point is slowly driven into the back of the neck, drawing blood. A way to feed the Vampires?

In addition, you've got gory images like self-flagellation--drawing blood for God. One acceptable--and encouraged--way to show true loyalty and self-sacrifice to the Catholic faith was to draw blood.

1) Read the passages about drinking blood and eating flesh, and how angels were killers or humans

2) The real reason for the inquisition. The Church had to feed these creatures somehow!

I read some passages in the Bible after I wrote "The Guardian". I noticed a lot of, well, references to blood-drinking and eating of flesh, and a lot of angels killing humans....and that's where I began to think that perhaps, there were vampires in the Bible, and that the Church really had contact with these creatures which they called "angels". These angels were in fact Vampires. So the Church created the Inquisition to find victims under the guise of converting/getting rid of heretics and sinners, and took these people to be fed to the vampires. What a convenient way to spread your religion--by getting rid of the non-believers.

That's when I turned my serial-killing Guardian Angels into Vampires. My Guardian Angels became Vampires, and infected all those in Heaven.

But it could be possible that Guardian Angels who came down to Earth were infected by Vampires. This is what my book explores.

Just like Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian countess who was considered a real-life Vampire, her accomplices brought her victims, her food, to her, by luring victims in. So who isn’t to say that angels didn’t do the same, and that they drank blood as well?

In my books, the Church knew of the existence of Vampires and hid them and used them as a means to get rid of non-believers. It was easy to take all the sinners and offer them to the Vampires through, say, the Inquisition, with their various torture devices, or self-flagellation by the devout, where the Vampires could come and drink the blood of the faithful, and of the martyrs.

These were supernatural creatures, so if the Church can Catholicize pagan holidays such as Halloween and Christmas, it is completely possible that they could turn Vampires into Saints and Angels and other Holy Beings that they can convince, or force, people to sacrifice themselves, or even their own loved ones to.

In my book, one Vampire went up to Heaven. But prior to that, Vampires already infected those angels who were first here on Earth.

My Vampire Guardian Angels do not like to bite necks. They would rather slash you open at the neck and drink. A knife, sword, axe, or other sharp weapon is a tool to be used with maximum efficiency: less struggling, less whining, less screaming. With biting, there's too much struggling involved. They prefer to "Slash first, bite later."

SO HOW DO YOU GET RID OF THEM?
That would be hard. They are immune to holy water and crosses because they are holy beings. They are unaffected by sunlight. You can't drive stakes through their hearts. You can't shoot or stab them. And they carry weapons of their owns, mainly swords and other sharp objects.

So in short, only another Guardian who has turned back to good can kill another Guardian. They can send them back to heaven through a supernatural "portal". The only way to keep this portal fomr letting every vampire inhabitant of Heaven down to Earth is to open it through a very powerful Vampire Guardian Angel. But to find out more, you'd have to read my book.

WHERE

So where are they? They are everywhere: on Earth, and in Heaven.

My Guardians sleep in churches, disguised as Guardian Angel statues. Look closely to see if the statues are breathing.

DON'T PRAY IN VAIN

So let's sum up: Why should you not pray to Guardian Angels?

1) They are tired of our whining. They would rather put us out of our misery than save us. So they become serial mercy killers.

2) They specifically hunt down those who pray for suicide or for an end to their suffering, and they end that person's life, by convincing them to commit suicide, or by other means.

3) They are vampires who hunt their victims down through their prayers (Specifically those who pray in vain). They may be Guardian Angels, but we're food to them. Our prayers of despair are a beacon. That's how they find us.

4) Nowhere in the Bible does it say angels are our protectors. They could be anything. But they were, in fact, given "Dominion" over man.

It’s called culling the Earth’s population of undesirables, of the weak. Read the news---it’s filled with freak accidents everyday. Guardian Angels have human frailties, egos, and so much supernatural power. Also, they probably think therapy is a waste of time. It’s easier to just get rid of the whiners. Wouldn’t you think that these Guardians wait for the opportunity to push a person in front of a car instead of save them? And we humans end up blaming it on bad luck, but never on the possibility of Guardian Angels with bad intentions? Or that they could just stand there and allow someone to die? There is so much human suffering in the world and mercy killing makes more sense to them, because we choose to ask them for help instead of help ourselves. They can’t keep up, and yes, perhaps this is their way of solving our problems---by destroying us.

So, good luck with your prayers to one. So, be careful who you pray to. Be careful HOW you pray. You may just end up meeting one of my characters. And if you do, I'll read about you in the papers soon. Brings new meaning to "Don't pray in vain, and don't wish you were dead.", doesn't it? Because you might just get what you pray for.

A. Can we not question our beliefs, or do we blindly follow dogma? Can we not think that there are things in this world that ARE possible? I’m just presenting an alternative view. The rest is up to whatever people want to believe in.

So, question everything.—question symbolism, dogma. People don’t want to believe that Angels are other than good. They don’t want to question. There are deep dark places people don’t want to go or think about or talk about. That’s where I come in.

So the next time you pray in despair, you may just end up meeting one of my characters.

So, if you read my books, you’ll see a whole new side to Guardian Angels.

Be careful what you pray for. You just might get it.
